Philosophy and Method
Affu.arquitectura is a small, single-practitioner studio founded with the ambition to grow into a plural structure. The name “affu” is an invented word, formed from the initials of the founder’s name and the letter A, which represents what drives us: architecture.
The studio was born from a clear intention: to create architecture with identity, sensitive to the site, its inherent values, and the real constraints of each project. We believe in architecture built in continuity with the physical, social, and environmental context, while being assertive, contemporary, synthetic, and functional. We seek a distinct architectural language, with a strong structural presence, where the building’s structure is not only support, but a visible and coherent expression of the concept.
Our working process is rigorous, attentive, and adaptable. We value close dialogue with clients, understand their expectations, and see budget as a design condition that positively shapes the outcome. We coordinate all phases of the project — from the first ideas to execution — ensuring full legal compliance, phasing strategies, and quality control throughout.
We use a variety of tools to shape and test each proposal. Hand drawing is essential for initial sketches and remains present throughout every stage. In parallel, we produce technical 2D drawings — from the base program to the execution project — along with physical models and 3D models developed in Rhino and SketchUp. This layered approach allows us to make informed decisions and refine the design process progressively and coherently.
For us, architecture is a good kind of obsession. We take real pleasure in designing, developing, and following every project — in any place, with any budget, and with the available means. We are always open to new challenges.
