A house for Porto
The house for rua do Meiral, in Porto, is made possible by demolition of a building that is practically a ruin. The idea is to build a single-family house, with a ground floor and two floors.
As for the intentionality of the project, given that it is located on a lot inserted in an old fabric of the city, it seemed feasible to carry out, in my own way, a modernization of typical Porto house typology, the one possible and that I knew how to do.
I leave below a loose text that I wrote to justify myself regarding the intentions of this project.
"... has to do with, and relates to, the known typology of the house in Porto, the urban fabric of the old city, the house from lot to lot; narrow and deep lots that offer two fronts to the building, one facing the street and the other facing the garden; houses with 2, 3 or more floors; with wide but narrow balconies; houses that use tiles to ennoble and give status to their main facade; houses with a central staircase and a skylight at the top..."
I could continue to describe, but what interested me was to situate myself and realize that the project created also served more or less consciously to study some of the so-called characteristics, and realize that there are bridges of contact with what I propose.
