Born in Porto in 1981, Fernando Ferrão holds an Integrated Master’s Degree in Architecture from the Escola Superior Artística do Porto (ESAP), completed in 2009. During his academic journey, he undertook curricular internships at Bernardo José Ferrão, Professor Architect (2003–2004) and Atelier 15 (2004–2005). He subsequently collaborated with Rocha Leite. In 2011, he completed his professional internship through OASRN, working at Bernardo Rodrigues – Arquiteto Unipessoal, Lda., where he deepened his technical skills and on-site project experience. Over the years, he was also involved in several short-term collaborations with architectural practices, including Teresa Nunes da Ponte. Arquitetura, in Lisbon (2012), RAAD Archidesign Studio, in the city of Porto (2016), and Domus Grupo 360, in the city of Trofa (2023), among others.
In parallel, he worked in the real estate sector as an agent for Century21 and ERA, gaining valuable insight into the dynamics of the property market and client expectations.
In 2013, he founded Affu.arquitectura, where he has since led the studio’s work, assuming responsibility for project direction, coordination, and client engagement — with a particular focus on architectural identity, design coherence, and construction management.
